About the poem

I came across an inspirational poem in Hindi. I was reading the poem and found it extremely motivating. I thought of translating it into English so that everyone can understand this poem’s meaning.

Read this poem and get to the meaning of this poem in English. This is an Inspirational Poem.

This poem is written by Sohanlal Dwivedi. He was an established and profound poet.

Meaning: The one who keeps trying is never defeated.

Meaning of 1st Stanza:

The fear of waves will never let your boat cross the waters. The one who tries is never defeated.
If you fear the waves, you will not be able to take your boat in waters and there is no question of crossing the river, sea or ocean.

Meaning of 2nd Stanza:

Take an example of small ant. When a small ant walks with a grain and tries to climb a wall, she slips or falls 100 times.

Her confidence that she will overcome the challenges fills her with courage. With that confidence and courage, she does not worry about how many times she will fall and try to climb again. Her confidence tells her that she can climb and she tries again and again.

In the end, her efforts do not go in vain. She is able to climb with the load of the grain or food.

Because she tries, she is not defeated.

Meaning of 3rd Stanza:

A diver or a person who takes out pearls from the ocean dives multiple times. He tries to get the pearl every time. However, he comes empty-handed many times.

He knows that finding the pearl in the deep ocean is not easy and every time he cannot get the pearl and he needs to try again. This sense of realization fills him with energy and he dives again with improved enthusiasm.

And we know that his hands are not empty every time. With his effort, self-realization, and repeated efforts he is able to get the pearl.

He keeps trying and thus, he is never defeated.

Meaning of 4th Stanza:

Failure is a challenge, and you need to accept this challenge. After every failure, analyze and see what were the shortcomings. Analyze and make improvements. With improvements make another effort. On each failure you need to analyze and improve.

Till the time you do not reach your goal, you need not take rest or sleep with rest. You need to keep working on your efforts. You need to struggle to reach your goal. If you really want to be a winner, do not give up. Do not give up till the time you achieve your target. If you give up, simply forget about achieving it.

Without doing something, there is no cheering for you. Your efforts count. So, keep on putting efforts.

The one who does not try does not win. The one who tries is never defeated.

This concludes the poem and its meaning. An Inspirational Poem is set to motivate you for the day. Let us look at the summary.

Summary of an Inspirational Poem

The poet Sohanlal Dwivedi wants to encourage us with his poem. With the example of a boat and waves, he wants to say that if you fear the situation and circumstances, you will never get involved into it and will never be able to come out of it.

If there are problems in your life, you need to deal with them. Ignoring the problems or running away from them will not solve and your condition will remain the same forever.

He quotes an example of an ant that tries to climb with a load of her food. She falls many a time but with courage, confidence, and continuous efforts, she is finally able to overcome the challenge.

To overthrow a problem, you need to be courageous, confident, and consistent with your efforts. This is the key to be a winner.

In another example, the divers go deep in the ocean multiple times and return empty-handed. They have self-realization that finding the pearl is not an easy task. . This self-realization is the motivation behind his every other dive.

The poet wants to tell that trying blindly is not what is needed. You need to understand your strengths, and realization of the situation you are in. Then only your efforts will land positively.

In the end, the poet says that do not be afraid of failure. Failures are teachings that will make you improve. After every failure, analyze it and make improvements. Identify the weaknesses, flaws, and shortcomings. Improve them and try again.

This world never cheers the losers. People who do not achieve anything or do not put effort are never the winners.

So, efforts are needed and they are needed with self-realization, courage, confidence, consistency, and improvements every time.
