Angkor Wat (Capital of Temples) is a temple complex in Cambodia and is the largest religious monument in the world.

Originally constructed as a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Built by King Suryavarman II Of Khmer Empire.

Built as a Hindu Temple in 12th Century. It gradually transformed into a Buddhist temple by the end of the century.

Angkor Wat contains two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture: the tomb and the subsequent galleried temple.

Its design represents Mount Meru. Meru mountian is home of the devas in Hindu Scriptures. The abode of Hindu Gods.

The temple is almost 5 kilometres long and an outer wall is 3.6 kilometres long.  There are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the next.

Unlike most Hindu temples, Angkor Wat has its entrance from the West Direction.  It is admired for its grand and beautiful architecture.

It is admired for its bras statues and many stone carvings of Gods. Angkor Wat means "Temple City" or "City of Temples"

Originally temple was known as Parama Viṣṇuloka or Vrah Viṣṇuloka which meant "the sacred abode of Lord Vishnu."
