Aarambh hai Prachand is a powerful poem written by Piyush Mishra. In one of the last posts we looked at the lyrics and meaning of Ek Bagal Me Chand Hoga by Piyush Mishra. We know that poems by Piyush Mishra are a mirror philosophy of life. Aarambh Hai Prachand song was featured in “Gulal” movie.
Listening to the song will give you goosebumps. However, it will be great if we get the meaning of the song.
Aarambh hai prachand literally means a powerful and turbulent beginning. Piyush Mishra tries to urge the humankind to fight and struggle and even die for the pride.
I have tried translating the poem in my words, hope you will like it. My other translations were Need Ka Nirman Fir-Fir, Agneepath and Ek Bagal Me Chand Hoga

Aarmabh Hai Prachand (Stanza-1)
Literal Meaning ~ Aarmabh Hai Prachand (Stanza-1)
The beginning is turbulent. The beginning is powerful. This has been claimed by the group of people joining the movement. The poet urges to call it as a time of war. For the war do not care about the ego, the pride or even the life. Put all these on an arrow of the bow and get involved into the war.
Interpreted Meaning ~ Aarmabh Hai Prachand (Stanza-1)
As in the movie, this song relates to a movement or rebellion and this is beautifully placed in the context of the film. However, I would like to put the meaning as what I interpret.
This is a call by humankind for a revolt, for an uprising, and for a change. An uprising is being called by the whole of humanity for a change. This change can be brought about by a call to war.
To be a part of this war, you must quit all your ego and pride and be ready for death. This means, that for a change you need to bring to a society, you need to rise from personal feelings like your ego and pride.
I can relate this from Mahabharata war when Krishna is preaching Arjuna the Bhagwat Geeta. That same words were spoken by Krishna to urge and inspire Arjuna for the war.

Aarmabh Hai Prachand (Stanza-2)
Literal Meaning ~ Aarmabh Hai Prachand (Stanza-2)
The one who is capable of dying on his wish and the one who is capable of taking other lives is the supreme power. This is a call by Krishna and this is the summary of Bhagwat that the war is a testimony of braves.
Whether this is a crowd of Kauravas or a group of Pandavas, the one who fights is the great. The one who fights is respectable.
Interpreted Meaning ~ Aarmabh Hai Prachand (Stanza-2)
This stanza is completely inspired by the Mahabharata war and the teaching of Bhagwat Geeta.
The one who is capable of killing or getting killed on his/her wish is the supreme power. It puts the movement or the war on top and the person who is ready to die or ready to kill is the one to lead or excel in the war. In simple terms, the one who is free from the bondage of life and death and doing his karma is supreme.
This is the synopsis and the abstract of Bhagwat Geeta that the wars are the only testimony of braves. How will you be able to recognize a brave person if he was never involved or took part in a battle or war? If a battle was not fought, you can never tell how good the army was.
In my opinion, it is not only the war between armies. Rather it is a war in every aspect of life. Till the time someone is not taking a tough decision he will not be able to prove his mettle. Isn’t it? What do you think?
By Kauravas and Pandavas, the poet means taking a side. This signifies being right or wrong. However, someone need not think about what is right or wrong rather he should fight from one or the other side. Fighting only can make you great. You have to fight either side.
In Bhagwat Geeta Krishna says, either you fight for the right or you fight for the wrong. This right and wrong is nothing but your perception. So fight the side you think, you should fight for. Do not remain neutral. Being neutral, you are only supporting the wrong side.
So, fight. Whichever side you think is right, fight on that side. That is the quality of great people.
Aarmabh Hai Prachand (Stanza-3)
Literal Meaning ~ Aarmabh Hai Prachand (Stanza-3)
There is no aspiration or lust for the victory. There is no control over it. What is life? Kick the life out. If death is not the end or finish line, so why to fear death. Let us rise to the sky and shout it out.
Interpreted Meaning ~ Aarmabh Hai Prachand (Stanza-3)
You fight but, you do not fight only for the victory. Do not attach yourself with the lusts of victory. Because, you do not have the control over it. You simply fight for the cause.
This is what exactly said in Bhagwat Geeta. You have to do Karma not for the results. You have to fight.
The result will be there if you are doing karma, however, you do not have control over it. Do not attach to the results, attachment to the result is not good. The only control you have is on you action. If you take action then only you will reach your goal.
what is life if you are not doing your karma? If the fear of death is stopping you to take action, kick the life out.
Moreover, if the death is not ultimate, if the death is not the end of you. Do not fear it. Rise to the sky and shout out loudly, roar that you are not afraid of death.
I have tried to translate other poem by Ramdhari Singh Dinkar If you want to live, do not fear death. You should read it.
Aarmabh Hai Prachand (Stanza-4)
Literal Meaning ~ Aarmabh Hai Prachand (Stanza-4)
Whether there should be a sense of pity, or the choice of valor, or the wound of defeat, that is to be decided by you. Make a choice.
Or on your forehead there should be a glow of victory. The vibrant and deep read color of victory and valor. The choice should be yours.
Whether the color should be saffron (color of victory, power, and action). Whether the drum should be saffron in color, or the beatings of the drum should be saffron in color. Make a choice.
Interpreted Meaning ~ Aarmabh Hai Prachand (Stanza-4)
Piyush Mishra in this stanza talks about the quality of life that you live by taking the path of courage and victory.
You need to choose life whether people look at you with a sense of pity or look at you are a courageous warrior. You need to choose if you want to live with the guilt of non-victory.
This simply means that you are the one to shape the quality of your life. What do you want to be remembered for? Your bravery or your cowardice? Your action or non-action?
You need to make a choice if your face glows with the deep red color of victory life a vibrant fire.
Now, these lines are more deep into the meaning. You need to choose if the drum should be saffron or the beatings of the drum should be saffron. This means whether your outward appearance should be victorious (signified by the drum) or you should feel victorious from the inside as well (signified by the beatings of the drum).
In my understanding, these lines are to make a thought whether the world should see you as victorious and courageous or your inner self should realize it. This is a self-realization of yourself. The color saffron is of victory and courage.
